Amazing Young People

Introduction: The 'Amazing Young People'  program is wholeheartedly dedicated to nurturing the confidence and empowerment of our young people through an immersive 7-10-week curriculum. This comprehensive program offers a dynamic range of art activities meticulously designed to assist participants in uncovering their true selves, discovering their passions, and expressing their aspirations through the medium of art. Furthermore, it equips them with essential skills to navigate mental challenges and provides real-world exposure through enlightening field trips to potential workplaces.

People with mental disabilities, in particular, often have difficulty adjusting to society due to limited communication and challenging behaviour. Empathising with the physical and psychological challenges faced by people with disabilities and their families, Live Better New Zealand aims to provide equal opportunities and arts education for children and their families to discover their future and participate in society through the arts.

Program Overview:

This project aims to engage ethnic kids, youth, and women in a series of creative workshops and performances over one year. The focus will be on fostering creativity, cultural expression, and community connection through design and artistic presentation. The project will culminate in a public exhibition and a fashion show performance, showcasing the participants' work and celebrating their unique cultural identities.

Live Better currently includes students with Down’s Syndrome, ADHD, Autism and other mental disabilities.

The proposed program has been thoughtfully designed to cater to the unique characteristics and needs of both our younger and older children. It aims to foster meaningful connections with peers, whānau, mentors, iwi, and the wider community. By tailoring the content, activities, and support mechanisms of the program to address the diverse needs of these priority cohorts, our primary goal is to empower all children aged 5 to 21 to thrive in their learning, explore their potential, and envision a promising future. The program spans across 7-10 weeks and is detailed as follows:
